This piece was painted in response to the the “Lift Up The Hands That Hang Down” theme of the 13th Worldwide Art Competition of the Church of Jesus Christ of Christ of Latter Day Saints. I am honored to be a part of that exhibit at the Church History Museum in Salt Lake City, Utah.
This is what the wall plaque says: A grove of aspen trees reaches tall to the sky. On closer look, however, each aspen grows imperfectly, one tree leaning a little while each shows scars of life experience—from a passing elk, perhaps. Sjoblom sees inspiration in the aspen grove: “We are never as fallen as we perceive ourselves and, in fact, can benefit from those around us. All around us are people who are more scarred than we know. They have their own weaknesses but continue to grow where they are.”
“We need to be willing to take the outstretched hands that will help us to get back on our feet and look to the hope of our Savior.”
Limited edition prints are available in 8x8 and 12x12 inches.
Each print has a 1” border for easy framing and is signed and numbered.
