Meet Brekke

Growing up in Utah gave me so many opportunities to appreciate the varied landscapes that surround us. Painting the world around me brings such a connection to our beautiful world.  The surrounding landscapes we find ourselves in play a major part in our lives and often serve as a backdrop for our memories. It is my most inspirational source. I see pattern and shape and texture in the landscapes around me and try to use those elements into my painting. I am not trying to reproduce it, but capture a feeling or a moment in time. 

Watercolor is a soothing and meditative process, but being a mother it often gets interrupted.  Building layers on layers of watercolor allows me to be step away and be present for my family and return to create a vivid landscape. 

I have spent many years being creative and pursuing art, including a BFA from the University of Utah, but I am just beginning my art career.
